# Seven Sky Consulting: a sample

One data story, made from public data. This is a sample of the fixed-price offer One data story, ready to post ($600). It answers one question from public federal data, with a picture, a short film, captions, the data file and the sources.

The offer: https://sevenskyconsulting.com/offers/#data-story-kit

## The sample: Of the AI uses federal agencies listed for 2025, how many are marked as running?

Federal agencies listed 3,611 uses of AI for 2025. 1,040 are marked deployed.

Source: OMB, 2025 Federal Agency AI Use Case Inventory, as of April 13, 2026.

- The film (MP4, 30 seconds, no sound): https://sevenskyconsulting.com/samples/federal-ai-inventory/video_tall_1080x1920.mp4
- The film's cover picture (PNG): https://sevenskyconsulting.com/samples/federal-ai-inventory/poster_tall_1080x1920.png
- The data file (CSV): https://sevenskyconsulting.com/samples/federal-ai-inventory/data.csv, one row per agency, 41 rows. Its columns add up to the counts in the picture.

What the picture shows: A field of 3,611 small marks, one for each use of AI that federal agencies reported for 2025. 1,040 are solid dots, marked deployed. 440 are lighter dots, in pilot. 1,479 are open rings, pre-deployment. 314 are small grey dots, retired. 338 are short dashes, with no stage reported.

1,040 of them are marked deployed.

That is 29%.

The inventory is public, and so is the file behind it. Count its stage column and the 3,611 split like this:

1,040 deployed
440 in pilot
1,479 pre-deployment: still being built or bought
314 retired
338 with no stage, because three agencies' public lists did not carry one

The official summary shows 1,818 as "deployed and piloted". That figure includes the 338.

None of this is a criticism. Agencies were asked to list everything, including what is planned and what was switched off, and they did. But a list of uses is not a count of what runs. The stage column is where that lives.

The limits: agencies report on themselves, defense and intelligence uses are out of scope, and common off-the-shelf tools are reported separately.

When someone hands you a count of AI systems, which stage are they counting?

One mark in the picture is one use case.

440 in pilot
1,479 pre-deployment: still being built or bought
314 retired
338 with no stage reported
