One county's housing, on one page, from public data.
Home values, rents, income, housing costs, permits and vacancy for one county, set beside its state and the nation. Every figure carries its year and its source, and its margin of error where the source publishes one.
What the report is
One page for one county: five plain sentences at the top, a dashboard of charts, then the detail behind each chart.
Survey figures are estimates. The report shows each margin of error, and it states a difference between two places only when the gap is wider than the margin.
Each report also comes as files: the text as Markdown, the text and figures as JSON, and the data file as CSV with a data dictionary.
The page is one file. It runs no script and loads nothing from any other address, so it can be saved, sent and printed as it is.
This report is information from public data, not advice to buy, sell, rent or invest, and it makes no forecast.
Three samples
Each sample is the full report for one county, as it would be delivered.
- Suffolk County, Massachusetts An urban county where most households rent. Also as Markdown, JSON and CSV, with a data dictionary.
- Travis County, Texas A large county with many new permits. Also as Markdown, JSON and CSV, with a data dictionary.
- Highland County, Virginia A small rural county. The margins of error are wide, one source has no figure for it, and the report says so. Also as Markdown, JSON and CSV, with a data dictionary.

Which counties
A report can be built for any county or county equivalent that the American Community Survey 2020-2024 covers.
For some small counties a source has no figure. The report then says so in words and leaves the chart empty.
Where the figures come from
- U.S. Census Bureau, American Community Survey 5-Year Estimates, 2020-2024 (table-based summary file).
- U.S. Census Bureau, American Community Survey 5-Year Estimates, 2015-2019 (table-based summary file, prototype).
- U.S. Census Bureau, Building Permits Survey, annual county and state files, 2015 to 2025.
- Federal Housing Finance Agency, House Price Index, all-transactions, annual county, state and national files (developmental index).
